With every instinct in me subjected to the opium called sadness, my fingers vibrate as they dance on the keyboard.
While this has no relation to Naija Music, i feel so deeply concerned and sentimental that teardrops flows down my cheeks as i blog this.
Tochi was executed this morning, despite claims of innocence. He was caught with large quantity of heroine in his bag while traveling to singapore. He was finally executed at 6.00am (local time) today. Another man, Okele Nelson Malachy( who was convicted alongside him) was executed as well secretly, without informing relatives, lawyers etc., which is a breach of human right. even at the time of commiting the offence, Tochi was only 19, which means he is a minor under the singaporean law. Yet the singaporean Government intentionally delayed his trials till he was 21 so as to convict him.
I have argued over and over again on Nairaland that his crimes does not justify a death sentence, since there was no prove that he knew that he had it on him.
While i am not really in a mood to type the whole story, you can click here to read more about what happened.
While i have had Lagbaja’s Africaino Cd in my wardrobe for ages, i didnt get to watch the whole video till tonight.
i have stated in one of my earlier post that i get to know lagbaja’s music in my highschool days, i still cant have enough of him.
I also consider him to be a master of musical video concept, as evident in his 2D animation video titled “Surulere” , he simply goes a step ahead than all other contemporaries. “Never far Away” (a flawless ego-like performance) is still one of the best 2006 videos, and “skentele skontolo” didnt fail to impress.
Having had a good time consuming the heavy percussion and flawless sax performance by Lagbaja, i guess it will be all good for you to have a taste of it as well, so here it is….
Francis Dike
Ok, i have heard enough rap that doesnt make sense (Ruggedman and Mode9 stands out though), but i simply like fell in love with Francis Dike’s “Eye of the needle”. Young talented rapper, who recently posted a demo of his work on Nairaland is fast gaining fame. I hope to bring you an exclusive interview with him sometime. Watch out for this….
I have not blogged throughout this week, and that stemmed up from my decision to peruse other blogs critically and see ways in which i can improve much more on NB.
I so much enjoyed Desolas blog that i kept going back, just can’t have enough of her comedy like rantings…..you are too much sister.
@Naijavixen…….we go rock this Nigerian entertainment scene to the end……..No shaking.
I finally registered on Myspace recently after so much persuasion from friends and well wishers. So here it is…….you can visit my page at www.myspace.com/naijabrains . Please feel free to add me to your list.
I have always watched BENTV musical show that i always rushed downstairs from my study room each time i hear “Shake it shake it” by Sean K-Dogg.
A Nigerian, living in London, sean has featured on DJ Abass’s Breeze extra and Blacknights entertainment Show on BENTV as well as the year 2006 Nigerian Independence show. Sean whose real name is Oluseun Komolafe is a native of Ilesa, Osun State( smae town as yours truly..). He was born in Glasgow but lived his life in Nigeria until recently. He came about the name K-dogg when he was at the Federal governmnent college in sokoto, and use to mime snop dog. The K in K-dogg is from his last name “Komolafe”.
“Shake it Shake it” is a hit track from his latest work, and you can watch the video below.
So, i haven’t blog for days……….Isn’t it funny how time flies?. I have been carried away with so much working and reading that i just didnt have time to put up something as usual. Anyway, enough of that…..
I have lately been compiling the A-list of Nigerian producers, ranging from the likes of OJB Jezrel, the great Omololu, to Jeremiah Nyang, Rymzo, Don Jazzy of Mo Hits Records as well as JJC. Will drop this on NB like its hot, watch out for it before end of January.
Recently, the duo of Tunde and Wunmi Obe have been putting up plans for “Cupid’s balls” a couple’s event which is scheduled for february at the classic Eko Hotel and Suites. Teaming up with the likes of Reve entertainment in conjuction with Kopycats-Tunde and Wunmi’s entertainment outfit, the programme will feature Segun Obe, SOUL E- NaijaBrains Hot sensation,Bouqui as well as Ego who is a former vocalist on Lagbaja’s band. Its promising to be a great event.
Naija is stepping up oooooo. I am so happy that Jeremiah Gyang is going places, especially with his recent performance at the black sexy party organised by AOM World media group which was well attended by the likes of Bimbo Akintola, Stella Damascus Aboderin, Funlola Aofiyebi and the like of others. The legendary Jimmy Jatts didnt fail to whaoooo thw audience as he dishes it out with his best.
AOM world media which is headed by Tonya Merritt and his set to host a 13 week show in discovering new talents who will rebrand Nigeria on the international scene and the wining talent will get an international recording deal.
Its been almost ten years now since i got to know Lagbaja. It was in my high school days when “Baby ta ni ko fe wa” was the rave. From that album, Lagbaja flawlessly delivered a track titled “Coolu Temper”, which happens to be my favourite. I could’nt be more happier when diddy4t sent it to me via Nairaland. Here is it right here, do take your time to savour every bit of it. copy-of-nigeria-lagbaja-coolu-temper.mp3
Last night was so tiring for me that i made a decision to eat and go to bed immediately i get home. I was in the middle of my dinner when BENTV popped a styl-plus live show from last year Easter Gig in London onto the TV screen.
I immediately lost appetite of my well prepared Pounded yam (i actually mean the stirred one) and Egusi( Yinka, my flat mate did a wonderful job), as i dumped it on the kitchen sink in place of Styl-plus show.
From what i see on TV, they didn’t dissappoint at all as they drop the famous “Olufunmi”, “Hadiza”, “Always on my Mind”, “call my name”, except that they need to be agile and carry the crowd along while singing. Its so obvious that Shifi can’t dance properly.
I was so broke last Easter that i couldn’t turn up for the show and i still regret every bit of it. I am Still keeping my fingers crossed to see if they’ll be in London this April 2007. I trust myself to be the first person to buy the ticket.
Anyway, while basking in the canteen during lunch yesterday, staring outside the window of the sixth floor of my office, i could’nt help my desire to listen to some music. Having dumped my MP3 player at home due to lack of batteries, i had to borrow Akin’s (a work colleague) sony erricson Phone. With like passion, he has more than 40 Nigerian tracks on it. As i plugged it into my ears, i scanned through the list looking for a song that’ll appeal to me. Within minutes, i got it………..
“Bang bang Bang” by Femi Kuti. He sang this song a while ago( infact more than 2 years now). But that song, for some reason rejuvenates me. I guess the hype of the drums and the sax together with the fast pace of the music clearly energise and flush out the boredom in me. After 10 successful replays, my break was over and i sauntered back into my office with a grin on my face……
While i couldn’t upload “bang Bang” by femi kuti on here, due to security and piracy issues, Enjoy(Below) this live performance of his at his Shrine. As usual, he never fails to deliver…….
This is the phrase popping out of from people ringing me up for the new year. While its been a festive period for most people, i have ended up being broke after mustering all effort to buy meself a brand new acer laptop that i couldn’t spare any money for phone credit. I ended up spending the new year without cash in hand. I finally dumped my old COmpaq presario 1200, thereby ending years (24 months indeed) of moaning about the old machine’s slow memory. I was so engrossed with the Honeymoon that i let away the updating of NaijaBrains in savoury of my Java Programming.
At least, considering the fact that i have a new better laptop now, i can do more posting and make-up for this blog.
Newayz, thats by the way…….Apologies for the late new Year’s wishes, but i will shout it loud……..
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!
