Am still in love with you ooo……sasha!

I was priviledge to get a flick of Trybesmen “oya” video on BENTV yesterday that i just could’nt get someone off my mind. Since the first time i watched Sasha’s live show on television courtesy of Kennismusic, i have since liked her ( make i no lie, he be like say i get crush on her jooo….). While watching the “oya video” last nite, she looked much more prettier in her early fame days than she is now. With just a top and a jean skirt with a cap to match, she did her rap rendition in all flawlessness that my mouth wowed throughout. When the video first came out in year 2002, she was’nt much of an attention then, since i only looked out for Eldee and 2shot who are the don at Trybesmen Records.

With Tony Tetuila’s New video “Eyi ma ga” featuring sasha, its look so obvious that she is now a shadow of her old pretty and curvy self. She now always have too much make-up on, and she look a bit more bigger than she use to be, thereby making her look like a barbie doll.

sasha love, can you please maintain your old self by slimming down a little bit and reducing those make-ups. I am miss u oooo……….zzzzzzzzz…………….i love uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Did i hear someone hiss at me?……..

I beg leave me jareee, i am not the only one in love……

The Forever Video

While broswing on youtube.com today, i finally found the Paul Play musical video titled “forever”. Like i said earlier in one of my post, its rumoured to be the most expensive video to come out of the Nigerian Music Industry recently. thanx to Rotimmy who loaded it on youtube. Please do leave comments on what you think about this video.

Nigerian Artiste and stage performances

As i have been keeping tabs on the Nigerian Music industry lately, i have discovered a lot of flaws that if not rectified, can cause catastrophic effect.

I was at the Nigerian Music Awards couple of months back. while i was apalled by the common passion for music that most Nigerians have as well as the planning for the awards, i can’t but stress the artistic stage perfermance which is below expectation.

It still daze me why so many Nigerian artiste mime their played original Cd rather than sing along to its sound track. Most artiste inclusive of Dbanj, African CHina, Marvellous Benjy, Jazzman Olofin, Faze and a host of others are guilty of this. I mean, i could possible do same feat myself by miming Tuface “African Queen” on stage and doing it the Tuface way.

Making use of only the instrumentals and back up voices on the CD( i call it sound track) should do the trick as fans will be elated by their original voices. While styl-plus tries so much to make use of sound track rather than the original Cd, i could’t help my dissapointment at the way their voice cringes and go off key during the Blacknights Nigerian Independence Show. Itwas so obvious that Shifi is the least vocal talented individual among the trio while Tunde’s voice was very great. it further proves the fact that their songs were most of the times, digitally enhanced.
Overall, their stage performance was below fan’s expectation as they lack the attitude of carrying the fans along. I can’t imagine that its only Zeal that can dance to “Olufunmi” and “runaway” while shifi and Tunde just stand still and sing along.

So far so good, as per the shows i have been to, Dbanj is one of the best stage entertainer, as he dishes out his songs in a more physically apalling way. Singing, playing the harmonica and dancing, all at will. The only negativity been, performing on stage with an original Cd. I guess he could have done more by just singing his original voice mixed with the sound track.

Faze has a good acapellah voice, as evident from him singing “”faze alone” without the instrumentals reveals how talented he is more than tuface. He also have the capability of commanding an artistic personality on stage

Furthermore, show/music promoters need to do much more in delivering value for money to fans who troop to numerous shows to watch their favourite artiste perform, by staging up to standard. An example is the “almight Kennis Music”s, stinginess in putting up a stage that is not enough to accomodate instruments and artiste at stratford Rex in London during the Kennis Music Easter bash 2006. I could’nt stop hissing while watching The whole tictac crew and tony Tetuila stamping over themselves and trying hard not to fall off the stage during their performance. Also that night, Tuface was soooooo……..unappealing when trying to sing “Get the feeling”as he was going off key and ranting as if he was mad.

Stage perfromance is much more important than albums and music video’s in the sense that it brings out the real artiste, and connects the artiste with the numerous fans who have had a picture of what he is like on their minds and in their head. Being below expectation will only reduce an artiste fanbase.

Whil i understand that the Nigerian Music Industry is only emerging, i believe there is still room for improvement and perfection…….therefore:

Can all Nigerian artiste please stop playing their music CDs during life performances but instead use the sound track, also can all music/show promoters please enable a platform that is more convenient for artiste to perform.

Also, i think Nigerian artise needs to do their home work by rehearsing their performances before coming on stage. That will further enhance correlation instead of confusion for most of them while performing on stage.

Hitsville……….its Paul Play Dairo again….

I remembered arguing with a friend of mine about the Nigerian Music industry sometimes ago. While i was very optimistic about the emerging industry, he believed that “the cup is not half full, but half empty”. I simply shrugged and moved on as i never want to argue on baseless facts. Watching “Xtra” anchored by TJ Vibesman and Mega on BenTV supported and boosted my argument as it featured Paul Play Dairo (The son of Juju Music Legend IK Dairo) interview.

With a album titled Hitsville, Paul Play dropped a track titled “Forever” which is rumoured to be the most expensive production ever to come out of the Nigerian Music Industry. With a blend of Soulful rythm and blues and a convincing quality video, it shows how fast the industry can move up to standards.

I watched in bewilderment as paul through the video representation, revealed the emotional side of an African woman and man to the issues of love. I personally believe its going to stay on top as the best video of the year pressuring the likes of “Never far away” by Lagbaja and “Escalade” by Dare art Alade to been runners up.
Paul who debuted with “Mo so rire”, a remix of one of his dad’s hit track, also have a single “Angel of my life(video above) to his credit.

Hitsville which has ten tracks is set to be premiered in London and its hits track “Forever” currently enjoys airplay on most Lagos based FM stations, BentTV and other Nigerian TV channels. The audio can also be listened to at Playground Entertainment or by clicking here.

Does anyone have the video?..please email me. I’d love to watch it over and over again.

“Mase binu si mi” by Clench

Ok, as i promised that more of my post will be more on Naija Music and my programming escapades, i Think i finally find the song that will definitely top the NaijaBrains music Charts for this week.

I heard the song yesterday, and it appealed to me so much that it immediately shoot straight to No.1 on my charts. its no other track than “Mase Binu Si mi” by Clench signed under PinDown Records. The AfroHiphop artiste whose real name is Mayowa Taiwo is an undergraduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University. With an album (Titled “Nothing comes Easy”) of 10 tracks to his credit, “Mase binu si mi” has been enjoying quite a lot of airwaves on so many FM stations in Nigeria.

His stage name which comes as an inspiration from challenges he faced in the course of getting signed under a record label is synonymous to his Album title “Nothing comes Easy” which stipulates his unending dissapointments at becoming a success at various musical contest like starQuest and Kennis St.bronw Talent Hunt show. The album which also featured tracks such as “Hello babe”, “se fun mi”, “two of us”, was produced by OJB jexreel, Nelson Brown and Rhymzo.

Me and Myself, Mode9…

Ok, i haven’t blogged for a while. THis month, my life has been the most hectic since i started taking critical responsibilities. I simply have so many things to do at a time that leaving one, will set back the other. Only God knows why i am running two course( java and database programming) at the same time. I guess its my love for computing or my obsession to know all at a time. At the same time, i have two outstanding projects with the Youth Forum that i coordinate. We are thinking of doing a promotional video that will incorporate two-three songs with interviews and other stuffs. i have two website’s i need to design using Macromedia which i have’nt even get my grips on. Another detail on my neck is a business proposal i need to work out on. I simply don’t seem to get the attitude of doing one thing at a time. I guess God wants me to learn patience and perseverance. Therefore, i am dealing with the issues in my life which seems like a very big mountain.
My love for Nigerian Music is growing much more and more. I simply have fallen in love with Mode9 (mr Hattrick). I use to think he is more of a hardcore rapper and nothing else but i am beginning to like is personality. I think he’s won my heart. SInce his winning of three Channell O awards, he has rode with giant strides on the entertainment scene. Big ups Mode9, just keep doing your thing man.

Since my love is now all about programming & NaijaMusic, i have decided to include a new category on Naijabrains for nigerian Music vidoes for each week. Call it more of a “UK version o the Musiccharts” and you are right. It will feature Nigerian Music video that wins my heart every week thereby making it the “top of the charts”. Also i am looking into including some more music into the Naijabrains Radio streams for your listening pleasure, as well as featured interviews of young Nigerians making a difference. Watch out on this space.

For now, i’ll deal with issues surrounding me, till then, please do bear with me.
