US-olojukokoro!

It seems the US is eyeing Nigeria’s oil field. And no matter what their so called Admiral Harry Ulrich ( the US commander of US Naval forces in Europe and Africa) says, i wont bulge on my conclusions. It seems the US is not satisfied with their taste of Iraq oil and they would like to have a taste of ours again. I mean, what business of theirs is it to conduct security on our own land. does any African superpower dares invade the US oil in the name of security?…………….Nigeria, think.think man……………….. you can read the news on Nigerian Guardian Newspaper online.

Genievieve, did you see this?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us While settling to work today and going through my daily morning exercise of checking my mails, viewing my blog( I do that every morning), reading the Nigerian news through www.skannet.com, checking my favourite artiste homepage (i am waiting endlessly for updates on www.styl-plus.com), checking my replied post on Nairaland (my most visited website), i can’t but stop at a thread that seems to bring me so much concern and that is the use of Genevieve Nnaji’s pictures for scamming. While i am not a great fan of Genevieve, I know personally that she is a brilliant actress who deserves a lot of respect and commands it respectively. but seeing her picture on the data page of an Ivorian International passport raise some security concerns. I sincerely wont be surprised if Genevieve walk through heathrow or JFK and is nabbed by the anti-crime squad because of evil perpetrated by scammers. i just could’nt stop to marvel at the great sense of intelligence as well as the dexterity in making sure pictures of her was lifted off www.aboutgenevieve.com and superimposing it on the photopage of the cote D’ivoire passport and changing the name to one “Beko Rosemary” with a date of birth 12/09/1982 in use for an advance fee fraud.Viewing the moral decadence in Nigeria as well as the ignorance in what scamming causes, i think more should be done to enlightening young people in Nigeria on the negativity of scamming and also the creation of jobs for young people. while i admit that my country is economically wrecked with an avalanche of political stupidity, i will still say that we enlightened young individuals should try as much as possible not to join the scamming train all in the name of making money. There are so many ways of making money online through egold, Google adsense and adwords, small privately owned business as well as selling of digital products, but all these are very patient method of making money and it last long for people who are into it. Good examples of people who have made it through such channels are seun of www.nairaland.com as well as some guy who owns www.epaynigeria.com . i am sure young people can always learn from their stories.

Soccer aid without African aid

Once again, i feel a sense of shame for the organisers of most charity events in the UK. A good example is the soccer aid which was organised by Robbie williams who is an ambassador for Unicef. While i relived the moment and enjoyed the match between England and rest of the world(ROW) which feature stars like Robbie Williams, Gordon Ramsay, zola, Diego Maradona, Desailly of France, David seaman, schiemechel e.t.c, i still can’t understand why they did not invited any African players or celebrities. The match which was played at old trafford stadium attract over 75,000 spectators and was viewed by millions all over the world via sattelite and local TV. I took my time to read more about the soccer aid and discovered that the money raised from the events go to poor countries in Africa. I take my time to reflect on the reasons why Africans are not involved in whatsoever charity events that concerns them. I wonder why George Weah( world best player 1995) was not invited, what about Rashidi Yekini(African footballer of the year 1994), or what of Kalusha Bwalaya of Zambia as well as Segun Odegbami. Over and over again, we are still been breastfed like babies, and it seems the west enjoys the prestige of playing the “big brother’ ,throwing fleshless bones at us like dogs.Such was the case during the Live Aid event organised by Bob Geldof in July 2005 which features artist like Bono, elton john, madonna e.t.c. At the original event which was performed both in the USA and the UK, there was’nt any African ( i am not talking about African-American) who was invited to perform at the live gig.The concerned African musicians who are willing to stage such events did so in Johannesburg and made Africa proud by making their voices heard.

While i understand and gracefully thank the west for their continued support in ensuring that millions of children do not die in the famined area of Africa, i think its high time the west stop barricading African talents and start including ‘us’ in decisions that affects us all.

We should be allowed to make decisions as to eradicating poverty in Africa. Funding alone wont solve our problem, throwing bones at us like dogs and parading our children on National and sattelite TV as a doomed nation in the name of fund donation won’t help matters. Involving us in practically everything will bring a better sense of purpose and a better achivement in eradicating poverty in our continent.

When are we going to be allowed to work for our own liberation of poverty, when are we going to feel a sense of responsibility, when are we going to bear our own cross and work alongside great minds to make Africa great?…………………………until we decide to bear our own sins, until the west decide to lay our future in our hands and guide us toward maturity, then will i clap and doff my hat that they’ve done a very good job!

NaijaBrains Re-invented

I understand that so many visitors would have been fed up with the bizzare on going changes going on at NaijaBrains. initially, it was a forum portal with features like wiki, photo gallery, news feeds e.t.cLater on, the interface was further enhanced and other features such as internet radio, shoutbox, chatroom was included only to be pulled down again and turn into its present state, a blog. While i admit a lot of inconsistencies, i will say that i have learnt a lot recently from online friends like Layi of NaijaBrains, Kazey of NairaHost, Seun of Nairaland as well as a gentle programmer called azuka of azutech. The whole lot are a great source of inspiration.Anyway, NaijaBrains has come to stay as a blog and will forever be a blog. i won’t be changing my mind again so i have made my final decision. i hope to share my experience as i move on into the world of programming as well as post issues and circumstances that happens around me. I am also looking for volunteer contributing bloggers who will be interested in making post on NaijaBrains. Such people can always reach me by email or contact me through Nairaland.

Come with me to explore the lifetime experience. Welcome to NaijaBrains!
